BIOGRAPHY

Sofya Menshikova, a student of the Zurich University of the Arts (class of professor Konstantin Scherbakov), is a laureate and winner of Grand Prix of many international competitions for young pianists, a scholar of the Vladimir Spivakov Foundation and a regular participant of international concert programs organized by the Foundation.

Sofya Menshikova was born in 2000 in Yekaterinburg (Russia). Her journey in the world of music began thanks to her grandmother Natalya Makarova. It was she who taught the girl to play the piano from the age of 4 until graduating from a music school.

 At 10, Sofya, at the invitation of the Vladimir Spivakov International Charity Foundation, performed at the festival “Moscow meets friends”. Sofya has won Grand Prix and awards of many international competitions and festivals, including the Second Robert Schuman International Competition for young pianists (Dusseldorf, Germany), first prize winner of the 3rd Young Piano Stars International Competition (Germany) and Grand Prix of the International competition Chitta di Barletta (Italy).

      

A talented young pianist performed with famous conductors of our times: Misha Katz, Igor Lerman, Arif Dadashev, Vladimir Ryzhaev, Vasily Valitov, Irat Kashaev, Anton Shaburov, Wolf Usminsky, Nikolaj Usenko. In 2018, thanks to personal invitation of maestro Misha Katz, Sofya gave a recital at Cannes International Festival Nuits Musicales du Suquet (France).

 

She is always warmly welcomed in the USA (she performed at Carnegie Hall), Italy, France, Switzerland, Luxemburg, Germany, Croatia, Austria as well as in Belarus, Kazakhstan, Estonia, Lithuania, UAE, Finland, a.o.

 

In 2020, having  graduated with honor from the Central School of Music at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory (class of Honored teacher of Russia professor Mira Marchenko), she entered the Zurich Institute of Arts (Professor Konstantin Scherbakov).

 

Sofya has a wealth of experience in performing not only solo concerts, but also as a member of chamber ensemble.
